December 16, 2011, by CH StaffCouple of fashion tidbits for this chilly Friday afternoon: first up, well done to Malaysian Chinese shoe designer extraordinaire, Jimmy Choo, who was named 'World's Most Outstanding Chinese Designer 2011' at the Business of Design Week at the Hong Kong Design Center last week. He's apparently been shoe-making since the age of 11 and founded his eponymous brand way back in 1996 with British businesswoman Tamara Mellon. She stepped down from the company earlier this year, reportedly to start her own label – look forward to news of that somewhen in 2012.
In other exciting news, Italian luxury label Bottega Veneta, best known for their beautiful leather creations have finally launched a new, China-specific eCommerce site, bottegaveneta.cn. As you'd expect, it's a pretty nice site and will no doubt be welcomed by China's luxury-lovers. More than that, though, it's a smart move in a country with an apparently unique preference for online shopping versus conventional stores, following in the steps of Armani, whose Chinese language shopping site also opened earlier this year...
