Warhol coming to China
February 9, 2012, by CH StaffLooks like last year's Picasso exhibition at the China Pavilion really got the ball rolling on big name Western artists coming to China. Now, ArtDaily.org reveal that traveling exhibition Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal will tour Asia from later this month.
Works on show will span the late American artist's career from the 1940s through to the 1980s. Comprising more than 300 pop art classics from paintings, photographs, screen prints, drawings and sculptures, the show will include iconic pieces such as Marilyn Monroe (1967), Campbell's Soup (1961) and particularly pertinent for the China leg of the tour, Mao (1972)
The exhibition is sponsored by financial services corporation BNY Mellon, curated by The Andy Warhol Museum in Pennsylvania and will tour five cities across Asia over 27 months. The Singapore leg kicks off in March, followed by Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and last but not least Tokyo in 2014.
