February 16, 2012, by CH StaffTake a look at this dynamic photo series by German photographer Martin Klimas, featuring porcelain kung fu figures as they shatter on the ground. We know, we know: it's only a tenuous link to China but worth sharing nonetheless, we felt.
To capture each of the objects at the exact moment of impact, the artist set up his camera's shutter release device to respond to to the sound of the figurines hitting the floor from a height of 3 meters. We love them – who would have thought that these otherwise fairly nondescript, inanimate objects could appear so fluid and energetic, right on the brink of destruction.
