ABOUT THE ROLE

  • UAP are seeking a talented, highly experienced, and self-motivated leader to join and lead our dedicated Shanghai creative team as Managing Principal.
  • You will be a vital component in UAPs ability to successfully deliver creative visions and practical outcomes for a wide range of national & international projects. The successful applicant will be comfortable leading the Creative team culturally as well as strategically whilst working alongside and directly with other members of UAP Senior Management.
  • Critical to the success of the role is to engage and contribute to the regions strategic and commercial objectives through performance related reporting and managerial discipline.
  • The role demands a passionate yet balanced perspective and an ability to be comfortable in an industry where no two projects are alike.
  • As the region’s most Senior Creative voice this role represents a significant opportunity to be a driving force behind UAPs short and long term strategic plans for the team you will lead and our continued regional growth.

ABOUT YOU

  • The applicant should have 15 years minimum experience within an art/design, fine arts, architectural or construction related background and have a proven experience in a leadership role.
  • You will have qualities that enable you to both empathize with and inspire your team.
  • Using your thorough understanding of the international art and/or design environment you will possess strong critical capabilities to ensure all creative outputs are in line with top international practice. Knowledge of the local landscape is equally important alongside a willingness to remain and grow professionally inside the Chinese/Asia Pacific Region.
  • You will possess the ability to manage quality across all facets of the delivery process, from concept generation to fabrication with strong attention to detail.
  • A good understanding of multiple materials and fabrication methods and /or the construction and manufacturing delivery process is required.
  • An ability to offer constructive advice and direction to your team to help navigate through a project’s aesthetic and pragmatic requirements.
  • You will be passionate, friendly, dedicated and above all, a team player.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum 15+ years sound work experience in an art/design/architectural environment.
  • Strong understanding of the creative and construction process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • High level communication skills in Mandarin and English is a requirement
  • Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and stay focused under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing situations
  • Experience in managing project budgets and thorough commercial understanding
