Eric Michael Johnson is a Shanghai-based photographer originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. Eric specializes in portraiture, lifestyle, event, hospitality, architecture, and sports & fitness photography.
A graduate of the Documentary Photography and Photojournalism program at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City, Eric worked several years with clients such as The New York Times before moving to Asia to focus on the advertising industry.
Eric has received honors in still photography from American Photography, Communication Arts, International Photography Awards, Photo District News, New York Photo Festival, and elsewhere. His documentary film "Foo-Foo Dust" was shortlisted for Academy Award nomination, won best short at the Los Angeles Film Festival, and is now in the permanent Sundance Collection at UCLA.
Eric is also a member of a production company in Shanghai that provides photography, video and production management services for larger commercial and advertising jobs. His team works closely with agencies and creatives to develop brand story, viral and event video. They provide camera and lighting equipment, crew, scheduling, casting, wardrobe, stylists, props, transportation and scouting for on-location and studio work in China.
