Lukasz Kos and Andrei Zerebecky are the creative directors of FOUR O NINE. Their studio-based approach produces conceptually rigorous products and spaces with a strong bias towards integrating structure and abstract forms all the while embracing the play of light and human interaction and tactility.
Before forming Four O Nine, Kos was a guest architecture professor in the universities of Toronto and Waterloo in Canada. Zerebecky was the regional director of B+H architects in Saigon Vietnam, while Kos worked with renowned architect Frank Gehry in Los Angeles. Both had the honor of working with Bruce Mau Design on major international projects from his Toronto studio.
In 2011, they completed their first built project in Asia, a storefront for contemporary furniture that was nominated by Surface Asia as one of Shanghai’s top retail spaces of 2012. The same year they won the “40 Under 40 Award” in Hong Kong for their furniture design. Most recently, Four O Nine’s Urban Fabric rug series was awarded the top five new products of 2013 by World Interior News Awards. The nomination was awarded at the prestigious Saatchi Gallery in London, England.
Their work has been recognized in Surface Asia (Singapore), Wallpaper Thailand (Bangkok), Perspective (Hong Kong), Dwell Asia (Singapore), Azure (Toronto) and soon to be featured in Architectural Digest China edition. Their early projects have been acknowledged by Taschen (Köln), Monacelli (New York), Gestalten (Berlin), Braun (Switzerland), Thames & Hudson (London), Lawrence King (London), Architectural Record (New York), Architectural Digest (New York), Citizen-K (Paris), Luel (Seoul), and finally on the television programs “World’s Most Extreme Homes” and “Opening Soon”. Their work has been exhibited across Canada, in Germany, Singapore and Shanghai. In 2010 Giorgio Armani selected their 4treehouse as one of his 100 drops of joy for the Aqua Di Gioia promotional campaign in 2010.
