Family-owned Van Thiel & Co. finds and restores antique furniture, objects, and art from all over the world and ships them directly to its clients of private buyers, furnishing stores and interior designers. They're one of the world’s largest sources for decorative antiques, vintage furniture and one–of-a-kind items.

Van Thiel & Co. is in need of a Woodwork Production Manager to ensure that all of their woodwork is produced to their standards of quality and timeliness.

Responsibilities

  • Advise ordering of products and half-products (wood purchasing)
  • Advise ordering of indirect and direct materials
  • Material inventory management (incl. indirect and direct materials, products and half-products)
  • Flow of products in workshops and storage
  • Work shop conditions (cleaning, heating, de-frosting, sufficient storage and working areas)
  • Motivate production office staff, team leaders and other production personnel
  • Providing production information to Management
  • Provide technical work instructions to production units
  • Provide guidelines for production methods and safety instructions
  • Design and development of product flow in production
  • Ensure efficiency of operation in production facility
  • Design, procurement and maintenance of production tools
  • Provide budget for production tools
  • Technical support and training of sub-contractors
  • Work with Product Development Team on new developments
  • Requirements

  • Solid understanding of woodwork
  • At least 5+ years related working experience within the wood industry
  • Have close understanding of wood related machines
  • Should have at least some working experience in China, specifically in the furniture industry
  • Comprehend vision, mission and values of project management
  • Open-minded
  • Self-motivated
  • Independent with a strong sense of responsibility
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Additional Chinese knowledge a bonus
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Willing to work and live in Beijing (Shunyi District) , 45 minutes north of city center
