Job Description

  • Develop and maintain photography benchmark with a strong sense of Western home style. Partner with the photographer and stylist to improve the presentation of the photo medium, constantly challenging status quo
  • Develop a clear understanding of home styling, lighting, photo design and the digital system
  • Design the merchandise on the set to reflect the best possible views
  • Direct and gather props and background appropriate for the assignment. Coordinate and schedule background and props while managing to the budget to insure profitability
  • Work out proper paperwork and SOP standards to secure the deliverables at consistent quality
  • Mentor, training and develop staff
  • Provide overall direction, manage workflow of group ad overswee the development of the project including set design, propping, lighting and styling before and on the set. Communicate project requirements to the sylists and photographers
  • Participate in the preparation and design of photo shot incorporating agency standards related to lighting, photo design, styling and propping layout and the digital system
  • Supervise on-site photography and location photography including all contract resources and merchandise components based on art direction and photo layout
  • Ensure merchandise layout placement is designed to the highest quality meeting client expectation and studio standards
  • Typically works independently; interacts with management or more senior level professional on non-typical assignments
  • Handles decision regarding issues affecting own work and possibility the work of other team members
  • Solves non-routine problems in work group or own functional area; takes initiative to modify procedures and processes as appropriates and make contributions that impact work team
  • Represents work group and possibly the department on projects
  • Seeks ways to share skills and knowledge with others
  • Provides constructive feedback to help others develop skills within a function



  • Typically has a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of work experience and education
  • Incumbents typically posses 2-5 years work related experience in graphic arts and retail or agency
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production process and photo art direction
  • Ability to design and order sets for photography and understand construction shortcuts
  • Ability to recognize and/or direct lighting that enhances the merchandise as directed by the client Keen graphic eye
  • Ability to work within budget confines and studio restrictions in a timely and creative manner Understanding of propping as if you were the stylist
  • Ability to juggle several different projects in a day
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Ability to climb, lift and negotiate several floors of sets
  • Photoshop, Quark, and word processing applications.
