SmartShanghai.com is Shanghai’s most read English language online magazine and provides the latest info on what's happening in the city, service and entertainment directories, as well as useful classifieds for housing and jobs. It's run by a dedicated team of editors, photographers and designers who live, work, eat, play, drink, and know Shanghai, people who value this city and want to see its culture grow.

SmartShanghai is looking for a great photographer to join our team in a junior position. The Junior Photographer will be out and about in this city, shooting portraits, interior and architectural shots, paid venue listings, editorial coverage and whatever else we can dream up for you to do in our downtown office.

We want it all, from the rooftop terrace of the Bvlgari hotel to the last few alleys around Old Town. You’ll be in the office occasionally doing editing and administrative work, but for the most part, you’ll be out there, shooting shooting and shooting.

This is a JUNIOR role, reporting directly to our Senior Staff Photographer and the Managing Editor. It’s perfect for someone who is starting out in the world of professional photography and wants to learn from an experienced senior photographer. You’ll work closely together and he’ll be happy to talk shop and share his tips and tricks with you to improve your own photography.

 

What We Offer

  • 6k net base salary with monthly bonuses for hitting goals (about 2k net)

Requirements

  • Someone with a photographer’s eye
  • Native Chinese speaker with Chinese passport
  • Someone with their own equipment and lenses
  • Enthusiasm for Shanghai
  • Organized and able to arrange shoots on your own
  • Willing to learn
  • Able to commit to a year-long contract
