Visual Identity and Brochure Design

By the middle of the 20th century, Herman Miller was synonymous with “modern” furniture. Working with legendary designers George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames, they produced pieces that would become classics of industrial design.

They are now represented in over 100 countries worldwide and are at the vanguard of supporting authentic design practices.

  • The Carafe Brochure: “The dining table is the most utilised piece of furniture… it’s the most social place in the home” ---Charles Wilson Designer

  • This project included working with the contemporary designer Charles Wilson and promoting his “Carafe” table. Paper Stone Scissors was engaged to create the concept, art direction & production of a high quality photoshoot and communication collateral to highlight the flexibility of the Carafe table and present how suitable the product can be across different cultures and adaptable for various stages of life and living.

  • Black & White Exhibition - Herman Miller’s Black & White campaign is an Asia-wide initiative to encourage positive change within communities. Inspired from Newton’s third law “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”, we created an interactive installation displayed at a launch event with over 200 people. Each string represents a lines of communication – crisscrossing, never straightforward, interacting – a display of the unique way in which we all interact with each other.

  • This campaign allowed us to communicate a message encouraging collaboration and raising awareness for Stepping Stones, a non-profit organization founded to provide a brighter future for migrant children in Shanghai.

  • Arras - Designed specifically for the Asian market, Arras is the very first product range designed by Herman Miller’s Asia Research and Development Group. The Arras product is built around the concept of being able to easily change office configurations by moving people rather than furniture.

  • In addition to designing the Arras brand identity, we designed a full suite of complimentary branding and communication materials, including a large format product brochure and website. The website features a short video which has proved integral in demonstrating the versatility and convenience of the pieces within the range. The visual identity and supporting communications reflect the simple, easy to use design philosophy that underpins the entire Arras product range and has ensured that all brand touch-points remain aligned with the brand ethos.

  • Passport ™ Space Utilisation Technology - Herman Miller are harnessing new technology to better serve and facilitate positive change within organisations, by developing a ground breaking application using beacon technolog to analyse space utilisation within organisations. This allows businesses to gain insights into employees use of office space in order to maximise their floor plans.

  • Our Masterbrand is inspired by the direct benefits of this ground breaking application through analysing the positive and negative play on space as a visual metaphor.

  • All communication touch points visually reference the key focus of the application in maximising the effectiveness of floor space and fostering a more collaborative work space.
