Honouring DSD HK's 30th Anniversary!

When The Orangeblowfish was approached by the Drainage Services Department of Hong Kong to create a branded sculpture – we were all for it! In the thirty years since its inception, the DSD has restored marine life and removed harmful pollutants from the Victoria Harbour.

The DSD wanted a custom sculpture that was low maintenance and embodied their vision and mission. It goes without saying that we knew the sculpture had to honour their thirty years of service to the sustainable development of Hong Kong. This project from concept to unveiling took over a year, but I'm sure you will agree that the results were absolutely worth the time and effort.

Our creation 1989 Fish and Water was unveiled at the 30th Anniversary of the Drainage Services Department and the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme. 1989 was the year the DSD began its mission of cleaning up the Victoria Harbour.

  • 1989 Fish and Water represents the fluidity and flow of water, a natural resource that is rare and precious. The sculpture contains 1,989 individual fish swimming in unison towards the iconic DSD logo, representing how man and marine life are living in a harmonious environment. The sculpture also represents the almost two-thousand civil servants who serve in the department, tirelessly swimming in concert towards providing world-class wastewater and storm water drainage services to Hong Kong.

  • The plaque created to honour DSD's 30th Anniversary and the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme.
